My Review on The Odyssey:

I give The Odyssey 5 stars. The Odyssey is heavily based on mythology, which is one reason why I really like it. If you haven’t read The Illiad, there is no need to worry because The Odyssey is a separate story all by itself. This an epic poem broken up into 24 books instead of chapters, which makes it interesting. Odysseus is the main character and he is trying to get home to his, Penelope, but it’s been twenty years of war and fighting his way back home. Odysseus causes himself many problems by angering Poseidon along with fighting other mythical creatures.  Meanwhile at his home in Ithaca, his wife Penelope is being bothered and pushed by suitors who want her hand in marriage. She still has hope and believes that Odysseus will get home, but it’s been 20 years, and she has a son (Telemakos) that hasn’t known his father for his entire life. Why is Poseidon mad at Odysseus and what does Poseidon’s punishment involve? Will Odysseus make it home? Will Penelope hold off a marriage if Odysseus comes home? How will the suitors be dealt with?
