My review for The Scarlet Letter:

I give The Scarlet Letter 3.5 stars. The story is worded like the time period where the English colonies started forming. The story is in the New England colonies where there are Puritans who take religion seriously. The main character is named Hester Prynne moved to Boston two years earlier from England. Her husband is still is in England, but there’s a problem. She has a child, a girl named Pearl, and that’s where the story starts. Hester has the child out of adultery, but no one knows who the father is and she won’t tell. So as punishment, Hester is forced to where the scarlet letter, that is an A, on her chest as a sign of shame. Hester has to fight to keep Pearl and teach her properly, but the people don’t think Pearl will be raised properly. Will Hester be able to keep Pearl? Will Pearl’s father be revealed? Will Hester be able to reveal the scarlet letter from her chest?
