My review for The King’s Rose:

I give The King’s Rose 3 stars. It was a little difficult to get into. At first, I didn’t realize this book was almost a biography, but it’s not quite because some details are made up. We all know who Henry VIII. He wasn’t a very nice king toward his wives by executing or banishing half of them. Henry is really old and is soon to die, but he needs an heir specifically a son to take the throne once he’s gone. Catherine Howard was Henry VIII’s 5th wife(!) and she was known as the king’s rose. Catherine Howard was about 15 years old when she got married. She has the weight that Henry’s past 4 wives haven’t fulfilled. For Catherine’s, it’s a matter of life or death! Unfortunately, Catherine wants to be loved by a real husband and not a power hungry and scared king. Catherine finds that the only way to be safe is through the King’s love, which she might lose if she doesn’t seducing him. Will Catherine give Henry VIII a son? Who can she trust? How far will she go in order to keep herself safe from the king’s wrath?
