My review for Once:
I give Once 4 stars. Once picks up a little while after Eve, but it’s not even past a year yet. Eve at the very end of the book Eve made it to Califia, which is a safe haven for women. Unfortunately, Caleb couldn’t enter Califia since the place for women only so Caleb is out in the wild by himself wounded from the journey to Califia. Eve wants to go find Caleb before it’s too late, but the King’s guards find her before she can get to him. She goes to the City of Sands thinking that she has to bear the King’s heir(s), but it the reason is not what she expected. What is the true reason why she is going to the King? Unfortunately, she feels like a prisoner, but it’s better than being stuck and constantly give birth to children she won’t see grow up. She also finds that Caleb is still found, but he is wanted dead for the deaths of soldiers that Eve caused when they were going to Califia. She keeps telling the King that she was the one, but because of her situation she can’t take responsibility. She finds ways to meet Caleb in secret despite all the trouble and sneaking around she has to go through. Caleb and Eve try to plan to foil the King’s plans and escape the City of Sands, which is basically impossible. Will there plan work and will they be free or will Eve have to do something to fix everything in hopes that the plan will eventually work?
