My review for 3 Willows:
I give this 3.5 stars. If you haven’t read the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series, then you should be okay and have no problem following the plot, but you might miss why the 3 girls refer to the characters from the original Sisterhood series. I find it neat that Ann Brashares used her Sisterhood series for a spin-off for another book, while having some of the original characters show up. Unfortunately, 3 Willows wasn’t as good as the Sisterhood. I felt confused at some parts, but the plot was quick and moved along.
So there are 3 girls in the 3 Willows: Polly, Jo, and Ama. Polly has been told that she is beautiful and that her grandmother, who she never met, was a model. Polly decides to try out the modeling career. Will she be able to find that she enjoys it? Jo finds out her parents are separating for the summer, but she has a job at the beach as a restaurant’s bus girl and suddenly becomes popular when she hangs around her cute coworker. Is it because she’s liked or because of him? Ama is a straight A student and is a control freak when it comes to grades. Ama applies for a special program for a scholarship, but gets a different one where she has to be in the wild and has to do a very high climb. Will she be able to do the climb before she gives up?
